The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is preparing a large commercial project along GT Road in Islamabad. According to Bloom Pakistan, the CDA chairman has told the relevant wings to speed up the work. Officials expect a formal launch in the coming months.

What CDA Has Announced
- The project would use part of 3,550 kanals that CDA acquired in 1967.
- The land is a 200-foot strip on both sides of GT Road. It runs about 16 km from EME College to Nicholson Monument.
- Officials estimate that about 2,000 kanals could become commercially usable after planning and development.
- One official said the land could earn more than Rs500 billion at a hypothetical Rs750,000 per square yard. That figure is an estimate, not a price list.
- CDA does not plan to sell everything at once. It expects to launch the project in phases.
A four-member committee will finalise the design. CDA is also studying demand for fuel stations and heavy machinery businesses, particularly around Tarnol.
Who Controls the Corridor
The National Highway Authority (NHA) controls GT Road itself. The adjoining strips belong to CDA. CDA has been clearing encroachments along the boundary. Officials say permanent structures on CDA land may be removed after legal procedures.
So check the status of any land before you rely on it.
What This Means for Companies
This is early news. CDA has not published plot sizes, prices, or auction dates. Companies that need warehouses, showrooms, or fuel and machinery sites should prepare now. They should not commit money yet.
